The International Cider Challenge (ICC) aims to reward and promote excellent ciders from around the globe, providing the perfect platform for producers to express their ciders to both trade and consumers. 

El International Cider Challenge (ICC) tiene como objetivo premiar y promover las excelentes  sidras de todo el mundo, proporcionando la plataforma perfecta para que los productores den a conocer sus sidras tanto al sector comercial como a los consumidores. 

Backed by a rigorous blind tasting system and with an international panel of experts to taste, assess and award your ciders, this is the competition that counts. Judges are drawn from across the cider industry and include producers, flavour analysts, experienced cider journalists, independent retailers and buyers from supermarkets.

Respaldado por un riguroso sistema de cata a ciegas y con un panel internacional de expertos que catan, evalúan y premian las sidras, este es el concurso que cuenta. Los jueces proceden de toda la industria de la sidra e incluyen productores, analistas de sabores, periodistas expertos en sidra, minoristas independientes y clientes de supermercados.

In total, ciders from 16 different countries were entered into this year’s awards. Nine gold medals were awarded across the Taste and Design & Packaging awards. The Taste Awards were judged by a senior judging panel, led by cider writer and ICC chair Adam Wells. 

En total, este año se presentaron a los premios sidras de 16 países diferentes. Se otorgaron nueve medallas de oro en las categorías de Sabor, así como Diseño y Envase. Los Premios de Cata fueron evaluados por un jurado de expertos, presidido por Adam Wells, escritor especializado en sidra y presidente del ICC.

On the quality of cider this year, Wells said: “I’m delighted with the overall quality of this year’s ciders and perries – the best across the board in the years I’ve been judging the competition. There were standouts in all categories, and from so many countries around the world. This year’s entries represent the huge step forward that cider has made, and I hope we see that continued momentum in years to come.” 

Sobre la calidad de la sidra de este año, Wells afirmó: «Estoy encantado con la calidad general de las sidras y peradas de este año, las mejores en todos los aspectos desde que soy jurado del concurso. Hubo productos destacados en todas las categorías y de muchos países de todo el mundo. Las candidaturas de este año representan el gran avance que ha experimentado la sidra, y espero que sigamos viendo ese impulso en los próximos años».

Six Asturian ciders from Grupo El Gaitero won awards in this competition: three silver medals for Ice Cider 1898, Spanish Cider Red Grape and Black Label; and three bronze medals for Spanish Cider 100% Apple, Alcohol-free Cider 0.0 and Traditional Natural Cider.

Seis sidras asturianas de Grupo El Gaitero consiguieron galardones en esta prueba: tres medallas de plata para la Sidra de Hielo 1898, Spanish Cider Uva Roja y Etiqueta Negra; y tres medallas de bronce para Spanish Cider 100% Manzana, Sidra Sin Alcohol 0,0 y Sidra Natural Tradicional.
