IBCA 2026

The International Brewing and Cider Awards were held in Manchester (UK) from 3rd to 6th March this year, with over 1,000 beers and ciders available to sample.

The origins of this great competition go back to the nineteenth century. By 1930, there were around 160 competing ciders, though after the I World War it became a national beer contest. 2013 saw the reincorporation of the International Cider Awards, with two cider categories. The 2015 competition further developed cider categories, running a separate cider competition alongside the beer competition. 2017 and 2019 saw a significant growth in beer and cider categories, reflecting the increased internationality of both products and innovation of styles. With 55%  of entries coming from outside the UK , the competitions are truly international. 2024 saw a move of the competitions to Manchester, a vibrant hub for beer and cider.

The Cider Awards were reintroduced in 2013 as an international recognition of excellence in cider production. They include bottled, canned and cask ciders dispensed to the judges, currently practising cidermakers from all over the world, at the producers’ recommended temperature. With 3 categories and 10 classes, every cider has a chance of winning – even those new or innovative variations on styles.
