CIDER WORLD 2025

Cider World Frankfurt, the most important cider industry meeting in the heart of Europe was held on 25th and 26th April this year.

Cider World Frankfurt, el encuentro más importante del sector de la sidra en el corazón de Europa, se celebró los días 25 y 26 de abril de este año.

On Friday 25th, the Cider World Awards and Medals 2025 ceremony took place, as well as the Cider World Forum, at the Astor Film Lounge MyZeil. Among the various talks and workshops held during the day, one of the highlights was the one on Asturias Cider as Intangible World Heritage of Humanity, a title obtained at the end of last year.

El viernes 25 tuvo lugar la ceremonia de entrega de los Cider World Awards and Medals 2025, así como el Cider World Forum, en el Astor Film Lounge MyZeil. Entre las varias charlas y talleres desarrolladas durante la jornada destacó la referida a la Sidra de Asturias como Patrimonio Mundial Inmaterial de la Humanidad, título obtenido a finales del año pasado.

On Saturday 26th, the 17th Frankfurt International Cider Fair was held at the Gesellschaftshaus Palmengarten, where the public could taste the different ciders of the event and attend master classes and presentations, one of which revolved around Asturias as a gastronomic destination.

El sábado 26 se celebró la 17º Feria Internacional de Sidra de Frankfurt en el Gesellschaftshaus Palmengarten, donde el público asistente pudo degustar las diferentes sidras del certamen y asistir a clases magistrales y presentaciones, una de las cuales giró entorno a Asturias como destino gastronómico.

The Guest of Honour this year was Styria, a picturesque región in Austria known for its extensive orchards and the high quality of its apples.

El Invitado de Honor de este año fue Estiria, una pintoresca región de Austria conocida por sus extensos huertos y la gran calidad de sus manzanas.

Asturian ciders obtained yet another year of well-deserved recognition, with a total of 11 medals distributed as follows:

– Grupo El Gaitero, 6 medals: Gold for Gaitero Spanish Cider Red Grape; Silver for Gaitero Spanish Cider 100% Apple and 1898 ice cider; Bronze for El Gaitero Etiqueta Negra, El Gaitero 0,0 and El Gaitero Extra.

– Llagar Castañon, 2 medals: Gold for La Bonagua ice cider and Valdeboides PDO natural cider.

– Sidra Fran, 2 medals: Silver for 1918 Fran Ancestral and Bronze for Ramos del Valle Brut Nature.

– Bodegas Masaveu, 1 medal: Gold for Valveran 20 Manzanas ice cider.

Las sidras asturianas obtuvieron un año más un merecido reconocimiento, con un total de 11 medallas repartidas de este modo:

Grupo El Gaitero, 6 medallas: Oro para Gaitero Spanish Cider Red Grape; Plata para Gaitero Spanish Cider 100% Apple y sidra de hielo 1898; Bronce para El Gaitero Etiqueta Negra, El Gaitero 0,0 y El Gaitero Extra.
Llagar Castañón, 2 medallas: Oro para sidra de hielo La Bonagua y sidra natural Valdeboides DOP.
Sidra Fran, 2 medallas: Plata para 1918 Fran Ancestral y Bronce para Ramos del Valle Brut Nature.
Bodegas Masaveu, 1 medalla: Oro para sidra de hielo Valverán 20 Manzanas.

For their part, the Basque cider makers Zabala, Zapiain and Isastegi received 4 awards: two gold medals went to Zapiain for its ice cider Bizi-Goxo and Premium 2024 natural cider; a silver medal for Zabala’s R.80 natural cider; and a silver medal for Isastegi DO natural cider.

Por su parte, los llagares vascos Zabala, Zapiain e Isastegi recibieron 4 galardones: dos medallas de oro para Zapiain por su sidra de hielo Bizi-Goxo y sidra natural Premium 2024; una medalla de plata para la sidra natural R.80 de Zabala; y una medalla de plata para sidra natural Isastegi DO.
