CIDER WORLD 2026

The most important cider event of the year in the heart of Europe took place in the German city of Frankfurt from 16th to 18th April, with more than 50 producers from 14 countries taking part. Once again, participants were able to enjoy guided tours, tastings of different types of cider and food pairings, conferences and exhibitions.

On this occasion, the guest of honour was Guipuzcoa (Basque Country, Spain), which celebrated the traditional ‘txotx’ – a pairing of cider and local cuisine similar to the Asturian ‘espichas’ – on the opening day.

Friday 17th April began with conferences on Basque cider, fermentation, pairing and marketing, as well as tastings of the participating ciders by expert cider makers from around the world. Later, at the Astor Film Lounge MyZeil, the 9th awards ceremony for the world’s best ciders (Cider World Medals) took place, along with the presentation of this year’s award for the best cider ambassador (Cider Star of the Year) to Haritz Rodriguez.

The event concluded on 18th April with the XVIII Frankfurt International Cider Fair at the Palmengarten Gesellschaftshaus, featuring tastings for professionals and the attending public, as well as a masterclass led by Gabe Cook, a British cider expert known as The Ciderologist.

Asturias was represented by the homemade ice cider La Comuña, produced by Jose Maria Fernandez from Aller, which won a gold medal in its category.

From 18th to 21st June this year, Cider World will organise a unique trip to Styria, the guest of honour at the 2025 event. This region in south-eastern Austria is considered the most important apple-growing area in the Alps. Four Styrian cider makers will open their cider houses to participants, who will also have the chance to discover the country’s culinary specialities.
